My home group meeting last night was very inspirational. Several long timers that have been gone for a while returned, it was a warm reunion. When I can open my heart and mind in a meeting to listen to what others have been through, their struggles, and what they have tried and what worked for them, it warms my heart and I get so much out these meetings. Last night was one of those nights. My higher power was working overtime through other people last night.
It is always encouraging to me when someone leading the meeting uses CAL literature that our group doesn't usually refer too. I feel it's good to be reminded of tools we might not of thought of or been aware of to use. The topic was prayer and meditation. I've always struggled with meditation, as it's difficult to quiet my mind and stop the wheels from spinning! It's a daily effort for me to quiet my mind, to allow myself to settle into my surroundings with peace and not stress. Since I've created a strong relationship with my higher power, of my understanding, I speak to her often through out the day out loud or in my mind as a way to pray.
Someone shared last night that they viewed prayer as a way to communicate to their higher power and meditation was a way to listen to their higher power's response. I instantly thought, wow, I never thought of it that way! How simple, right?! Let go and let higher power as I'm praying or more having a conversation. Then by quieting my mind and opening my heart to take the time to meditate, the answers will come. I suppose I've been practicing this on some level, but it feels like a spiritual awakening to put the puzzle pieces together and link several tools together to help walk this path of recovery. I find it very uplifting to have a moment of realization that like!
